Please : DO NOT USE YOUR GPS UNIT.
It will direct you over an endless maze of Dirt Roads and you may never be seen again. Our old fashioned map is by far the better way to find us. Barkala Farm / Pilliga Pottery is well signposted on the Newell Highway . It is an easy, beautiful drive of about 10 minutes off the Highway . Trust us - your GPS does not realise what Dandry Road is like - follow our map and everything is simple. :)

We are located on a well maintained dirt road, accessible for all 2 wheel drive vehicles, coaches and caravans,

BUT

as with all ( dirt ) roads, drive to suit conditions ( in protracted wet weather it can be slippery in places ) , be alert for wild life and though it may appear you are the only road user ... there are others who think so too :-)

If there has been protracted rain in the Coonabarabran region feel free to call us and we will give you an update about road conditions: 02 68422239

Barkala Farm and the adjoining Nature Reserve are home to over 120 bird species, many of which can be heard (and seen) early in the morning or as the sun cools. In mild weather, the birds will be active all day. Morning walkers will generally be accompanied by a mixture of common and more unusual species.
