This large, beautiful feature vase is one of our more individual patterns – a handsome Goanna. With intricate, detailed patterns and rich, vibrant glazework, this is a stunning piece. This design is inspired by our local goanna, the Lace Monitor or Tree Goanna – Australia’s second largest goanna and a truly magnificent animal. We can’t hope to duplicate the delicate patterning and subtle colouring that nature really gives him, so we use artistic license instead! Our glazer has used some of our most dramatic glazes on this piece – the main colours are deep red, orange-red, and goldlustre, with beige for highlights. Against the warm creamy colour of our local clay the overall effect is mesmerizing and really draws the eye, making this piece a perfect feature or centerpiece for any room. The rear of the vase features a decorative pattern in the same colours, as a counterbalance to the front design.

Our distinctive look is achieved by only glazing the design and rim of this piece, providing a dramatic contrast to the natural "sandstone" colour of our local clay. The inside of the vase is fully glazed with a clear glaze, so it is usable, although such a spectacular piece does not necessarily need anything extra!

We ship to most countries, please ask us for a quote. We take extra special care with padding and boxing to make sure the piece will be amply protected.

Please contact us if you would like to order a variation on this style of vase. Our larger pieces tend to be very individual so if there is a particular shape or design you like, or certain colours, then please get in touch. We may have something to suit on our real shelves, or we are happy to do a custom order for you! Enquiries are welcome.

Blue Wrens at Barkala , the leading theme in our Pottery

Barkala Farm and the adjoining Nature Reserve are home to over 120 bird species, many of which can be heard (and seen) early in the morning or as the sun cools. In mild weather, the birds will be active all day. Morning walkers will generally be accompanied by a mixture of common and more unusual species.
