Within easy driving distance from Sydney it is a great place to visit and stock up on the most beautiful Earthenware Australian made pottery available. Situated on the 8000 acre farm 'Barkala' you are welcomed to stay in the unique Holiday accommodation and relax in an inspiring and peaceful environment.

A visit to Coonabarabran, NSW is not complete without a trip to our extensive ceramics workshop and gallery. The beauty of the Pilliga woodlands provides the inspiration for our Australian made pottery that ranges from large garden planters, kitchen ware, terracotta earthenware and collector art pieces. Each piece is created to the highest quality and is handmade from clays gathered from the Pilliga region.
The friendly Rickert family and staff will welcome you in old fashioned European Style hospitality with a fabulous meal , pizza, cappuccino or devonshire tea in their lovely "Blue Wren Cafe".
You can spend the night in one of the most inspiring cottages you've ever seen , go for an endless early morning walk and share a hands down workshop in the Pottery. A down to Earth experience you'll never forget.

Since 1985 we not only make the finest Australian Pottery, we also cater for you in our cafe and farm stay accommodation , surrounded by the great Australian bush of the Pilliga.
Just 20 KM North of Coonabarabran which is about 200 km North of Dubbo in central NSW.

You can watch the potters at work seven days a week and children are welcome to get some hands on experience with the clay. After you can enjoy the Bush Wren Cafe where we offer espresso coffee, scones and lunches made with produce from our homegrown organic kitchen garden.
The bush experience does not stop at the workshop. Pilliga Pottery is part of Barkala Farm, an 8000 acre family run farm that is bordered by the Pilliga National Forest and lies close to Warrumbungle National Park. The Rickert family started the pottery here in 1985 and are happy to share more of their lifestyle with you during your visit.
Walk the bush trails, go horse riding, pet the farm animals or just enjoy the birds, emus, wallabies and kangaroos that roam the farm.

farm. Hand built from straw bales, mud brick and local timbers, these homes provide unique holiday getaway accommodations for guests wishing to experience in comfort the adventure of life in the Australian bush.
The beautiful woodlands of the Pilliga surrounding us inspire our work, which ranges from garden pottery to beautifully designed kitchenware and decorative pottery of every shape and size. Using a local resources, we make our own cream colored and traditional terracotta clays, which we form into lovely shapes on the potter's wheel and then decorate using our own unique and distinctive methods. Every item in our shop is handmade on site.
